Abadeh Izadkhast Castle

The Izadkhast Castle is located in the Fars Province, Iran. The castle is 57 kilometers from the north of Abadeh, between Shiraz and Isfahan. It was built during the Sassanid Empire and functioned as fortified walled city on the ancient Silk Road that ran through central Iran. It is the second largest adobe building in the world after Arg-e Bam. The castle which is one of the Abadeh tourist attractions is at the top of a great rock and tiny houses with very narrow alleys are inside it. The fire temple of Izadkhast Castle from the Sassanid era was turned into a mosque after the advent of Islam to Iran. The Izadkhast castle like the Citadel of Bam is a sand construction, made of adobe. Most of the homes inside the castle are built from wood and mud.

The inverted tulip, also known as the tear flower, the tear of Mary and the Caesar’s crown, is a very delicate flower that grows at the hillside of the mountains. The inverted tulip is short-lived and usually lasts less than a month, depending on the climate of the region. It grows in mid-spring and when the sun gets hot, it says goodbye to the world. Unfortunately, the tourism reputation of this village has caused a lot of damage to the overturned tulips.

Abbas Gholi Khan Historical House, one of the ancient buildings of Abadeh, dates back to the Qajar period. The architecture of the house is a perfect example of a central courtyard house with unique stucco and wooden decorations. Abbas Gholi Khan Historical House is a two-story building with several rooms. After renovating the building, the downstairs is used as restaurant and upstairs as coffee shop. One of the upper rooms is used as a photography studio. One of the most interesting features of this house is furniture and their layout. Abadeh Kolah Farangi Mansion

A Beautiful Entertainment House

The Kolah Farangi Mansion, one of the Abadeh tourist attractions, is located 24 km south of Abadeh. This one-story mansion has 4 entrances and tall windows, which is made in octagonal shape. The building is made of clay and mud and the inside of the building is paved with square bricks. the roof of this building is latticed and mirrored. A rectangular pool is located in the middle of this mansion, which gives a special beauty to this place. The doors which are made of walnut wood, colorful windows glasses with geometric patterns and marble walls give this place a double beauty and dazzle the eyes of every passerby. The architectural style of this building dates back to the Qajar period. Since this mansion has been influenced by the European architecture in Qajar era, it is known as Kolah Farangi Mansion just like so many other mansions in Qajar era. Farangi means European in Persian. Originally, this building was the tomb of Mirza Ali Khan Wafa's father but during in its history, it was used as teahouse, guest house, chess house and entertainment house.

Abadeh Khereft Khane

In the southern mountains of Izadkhast, which include the Lorian mountains, the Naqsh-e-Rostam and Persepolis mountains, which belong to the Achaemenid period, there are ruins of stone huts; They are called khereft khane. People believe that southern tribes of Iran, put old men and who are mentally and physically disabled, in these palaces with some food and water and left them to die. Khereft in Persian means old and idiot in English. Khereft khane is like Dakhme of ancient Zoroastrians. Dakhme is the name for burial places of Zoroastrians. They put their corpse in the dakhme. They sleep the corpse on its back, put some bread in below and above the corpse. A black dog eats the bread, and this was the bath of their corpse.

Abadeh Ali-ebne Hamzeh Bridge

The Ali-ebne Hamzeh bridge which is one of the Abadeh tourist attractions was built on “Khoshk” River of Shiraz, in the Al-e-Boyeh era and has been repaired for many times. The final repair and construction works have been performed in the Karim Khan Zand period (1185 AH).
