The Izadkhast Castle is located in the Fars Province, Iran. The castle is 57 kilometers from the north of Abadeh, between Shiraz and Isfahan. It was built during the Sassanid Empire and functioned as fortified walled city on the ancient Silk Road that ran through central Iran. It is the second largest adobe building in the world after Arg-e Bam. The castle which is one of the Abadeh tourist attractions is at the top of a great rock and tiny houses with very narrow alleys are inside it. The fire temple of Izadkhast Castle from the Sassanid era was turned into a mosque after the advent of Islam to Iran. The architectural style of this building dates back to the Qajar period. Since this mansion has been influenced by the European architecture in Qajar era, it is known as Kolah Farangi Mansion just like so many other mansions in Qajar era. Farangi means European in Persian. Originally, this building was the tomb of Mirza Ali Khan Wafa's father but during in its history, it was used as teahouse, guest house, chess house and entertainment house.
