Iranian art reflects about 5,000-year-old cultural tradition with a significant development over history. Numerous artists have produced beautiful items that are known throughout the world. Iranians artists are master in very much fields such as music, performance, architecture, painting, carpeting, weaving, woodcarving, engraving, inlaid working, pottering, tile working and even writing and calligraphy, etc.
The World Crafts Council (WCC) an affiliated of UNESCO declared 48 world cities and villages as world craft cities. Out of this number, 40 cities belong to Asia-Pacific region while 6 cities are in Latin America and 2 cities in Europe. Having registered 14 cities and villages in the World Crafts Council, Iran ranks first in the world in this field. Only 36 other regions and cities across the globe have been awarded Craft City status.
