World Creative City of Crafts and Folk Arts
Isfahan is famous for its Perso–Islamic architecture, grand boulevards, covered bridges, palaces, tiled mosques, and minarets, historical buildings, monuments, paintings and handicrafts. There are totally 602 handicrafts fields identified in a global scale. 299 fields are peculiar to Iran, from which 199 fields – one-third of global number – are in Isfahan. There are roughly 60,000 craftspeople in Isfahan province and 80 percent of them are in Isfahan city. The Naqsh-e Jahan Square in Isfahan city is the largest handicrafts marketplace in the world. In 2015, this city was registered on World Crafts Council (WCC) list as The World Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts.
There are some workshops in Isfahan Bazaar. Craftsmen in workshops give you a very good chance to learn more details about cultural issues. The most expensive and unique Isfahan handicrafts such as Persian Minakari, Persian Ghalamkari, Persian Khatamkari, Persian Ghalamzani, Painted Copper, Persian Moaraq are stored and exhibited in the traditional stores of the Naqsh-e Jahan Square.
