The Narin Castle (3000 B.C) one of the meybod tourist attractions is a mud-brick castle in the town of Meybod, Iran. The ruins of the structure stand 40 meters high from its base. Four towers surround the entire compound, and a large gate furnishes access to a large courtyard. The structure seems to have been the victim of numerous earthquakes throughout the ages. It's hard to believe that a structure made of brick and mud could stand tough for so many centuries. When you climb up the stairs, you reach a terrace that offers incredible views of Meybod, with the old town in the foreground, full of adobe houses with undulating roofs, windcatchers, domes, minarets and arches. Pigeon Tower of Meybod (Kabutar Khane) is one of the most beautiful pigeon towers in Iran which dates back to the Qajar era. The old tower has a height of 8 meters and it’s equipped with 4000 of nests. Pigeon towers were built to collect pigeon dung and other birds’ droppings for agricultural use and many industrial uses including tanning industry, leather and gunpowder manufacturing. According to Wikipedia, a caravanserai is simply “a roadside inn where travelers could rest and recover from the day’s journey.” The caravansaries were constructed all over Iran by Shah-Abbas-I and they were located on remote spots on the roads just like motels these days. Meybod Shah Abbasi Caravanserai one of the meybod tourist attractions was built during the Safavid era with a total of 100 rooms. This meybod caravanserai is very important due to its architecture, interior design and geographical location. It is based on a rectangular plan with a yard-centered design and is made of brick with four porch method. Shah-Abbasi Caravanserai includes a water reservoir, a Chaparkhaneh and an Ice-House. The building is made up of covered passageways, exterior porches, vestibule, central yard and one hundred rooms. There is an octagonal pool inside the courtyard.

The entrance of caravanserai is located in an arched alley. The yard has 24 chambers that today are used as handicraft workshops where you can see the process of making different handicrafts. Some parts of the caravanserai have been turned into a traditional restaurant that provide Iranian traditional foods. The Meybod Ziloo museum is positioned in the eastern part of the Caravanserai.

An Old Post Office
The Chaparkhaneh of Meybod, one of the meybod tourist attractions, dates back to the Qajar era. It was one of the major post offices during the Qajar era. It is located along the ancient path of Rey-Kerman alongside Caravanserai of Meybod. Royal letters and parcels were sent to other cities from this post office. Since important orders and parcels were temporarily stored there, guarding towers and barracks were later built to protect the Chaparkhaneh. It is made from raw cob bricks and clay.

The building has a central yard, and the stables have been built all around it. It has two roofed spaces that were used as resting areas of the horses, the riders, the guards, and the commanders. In Chaparkhaneh the messengers left their tired horses to rest there and continued their journeys with newly rested horses. This system was developed during the Achaemenid Empire and lived on for centuries until the modern post service entered Iran. Now, this adobe building have turned into museum. The history of post office and telegraph are presented in the museum. There are replicas of the horses, the stamps, old telegraph instruments and telephones in the Post and Communications Museum of Meybod.

A Zoroastrian Village in Desert
The Kalantar Village is known as the ancient Iran’s miniature. There are many valuable historic buildings in its texture which belongs to the Zoroastrian architect such as old cisterns, water mills, fire temple and remains of a historic castle that represents the age and history of the village. The Kalantar Village is one of the main centers of holding the Zoroastrian ceremonies such as Mehregan, Sadeh, Mehrizad and Panji in which many Zoroastrianism attends to ceremonies annually. The plans of houses are so integrated that they cannot be separated from the roof space. The inside of the homes is modernized while the outside maintains the original architecture. Entering through the 100’year old doors, it is like being teleported into to a different world. Kalantar village comprises a majority Zoroastrian population still in residence, a very small Muslim population still in residence, and significant abandoned structures, formerly occupied by both Zoroastrian and Muslim households. If you enter the village after praying ceremony, you can see men and women leaving the temple fire after praying. The women in colorful headscarves and the men wearing white hats. There are some berries, pistachios and pomegranates trees inside the houses and in the farms of village that catch every visitor’s eyes.

So old but still Standing
Mehrjard Castle one of the meybod iran sights was built during Zandieh and Afsharieh dynasties (the 17th century). There are five towers built around the castle to watch around. Chak Chak or Chaku Chaku is one of the important Zoroastrian shrines. This shrine that is also called “Pir-e Sabz” by Zoroastrians is located between Ardakan and Anjireh Mountains in Ardakan in Yazd Province. “Pir” in Persian refers to a site of pilgrimage. It is esteemed by Zoroastrians of Iran and the world. There is an annual gathering and celebration in the 14th-18th June, when over 1500 Zoroastrians from Iran, India and other countries go to the fire temple at Pir-e Sabz to worship and pray. It is said that the word “Chak Chak” is derived from the sound of the dropping water (trickle) that fall down from its roof with this sound “chack chack”. The Zoroastrians consider dropping water as sacred and collect them as blessings. The fire temple is a hollow cavity in the heart of the mountain that has made it look like a room. It has marble columns, stone walls, windows and two metal doors and the paintings of Zoroastrian guards with spears in their hands is on the doors just like the ones that can be seen in Persepolis. There is a well with the depth of more than 50 meters in one of the rooms.

According to Zoroastrians, when Muslims attacked Iran at the time of Sassanid King, Yazdgerd, Nik Banu, the daughter of the king ran away from the Muslims and escaped towards Ardakan and hid and disappeared among the mountains. So the place became the shrine for Zoroastrians. One of the servants of Nik Banu named Gohar Banu is also buried a few kilometers far, which is known as Pir Herisht. There is an ancient old tree here as well which is considered sacred by Zoroastrians. This tree has been grown right in the middle of a rock. Its emergence from a place where only there are stones and rocks is a natural wonder. For this reason, many legend and stories have been formed around the tree as well as the mountain. The route to the fire temple is very long and you have to climb more than 200 stairs.

It was established at 2002 to restore the historical pile-less carpets. In this museum, there are some active looms for weaving, some workshops in which some old people are weaving the Ziloo and explaining the procedure at the same time. Historical Ziloo-s in this museum have been gathered by the efforts of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Yazd province. There are 55 samples of Ziloo in this museum which are really precious and valuable. The oldest Ziloo belongs to the Meybod Jaame-Mosque and dates back to 808 AH (about 615 years ago). In the workshops you can pick and sort the cotton, and dye the threads for weaving the Ziloo by yourself. Enjoy it!

Iranian Pottery is the art of making dishes from clay by hand or wheels. The dishes made in this way are called earthenware. Pottery has a 6,000-year-old history in Iran, which is the oldest handmade artwork. The Pottery Museum of Meybod dates back to Qajar period. More than 100 pottery goods are kept in this museum relating to different eras. The oldest artifact in the museum is an earthenware jug in which belongs to Medes era. Archaeologists have obtained this jug from the ancient sites of Meybod. There is an educational workshop for pottery in this museum. Bideh village of Meybod is one of the ancient sites of Meybod city. It dates back to 15 thousand years ago. There are some unique historical monuments in this area such as Kandovan village which is located on a hill, Bideh Watermill, Zirok Mosque, Pir-Cheragh Shrine, Sahebolzaman Tower, Seyed-Abolghasem Tomb, Historical House of Bruni, Isfahani Alley, Mokhtari House, some ancient hills, Boomkan river, Sahib-Jan house, underground city and etc. Each of these sites tell us a lot about people's culture and way of life during the past in Bideh.

Imamzadeh dates back to the 6th or 8th centuries of AH and its building is an adobe building with plastered interior layers. Imamzadeh Khadijah Khatoon consists of different parts such as high dome, high porch, numerous porticoes, wide courtyard and chapel. The 10-meter long porch of the shrine is decorated with turquoise mosaic tiles, and a blue inscription with bold lines is installed on top of it.

Khadijah Khatun local bazaar is held every Thursday in the courtyard of Imamzadeh Khadijah Khatun and the alleys leading to it, and local products, souvenirs and handicrafts are sold there. Also, in this traditional market, you can buy fruits, vegetables and poultry produced from Meybod gardens and farms directly from the producers.
Meybod Tourist Attractions Bideh Watermill
The 900-year-old Bideh watermill is one of the historical monuments of Maybod city and is one of the oldest mills in the region. This mill is one of the historical monuments of the Safavid era, which is located along the silk road and near Imamzade Pircheragh Meybod. The mill space includes a wheat warehouse, a milled flour depot, and a cattle storage area. The working method of the mill is that first the water enters a pond and is cleaned there. After passing through the pool board, the water enters the vertical furnace and enters the wooden curtain with high pressure and rotates it, and the underlying stone always remains fixed. The wheat enters the hole little by little, in the middle of the stone and is placed between the two lower stones and the gravel, and it is crushed and turned into flour, and the water entering the mill comes out from under the hole and goes to the fields. In the dry areas of Iran, the mill is built on the aqueduct and the mill furnace is deep in the ground, the volume of which depends on the amount of water in the aqueduct.
