Historically, nomadic tribes in southern Iran would leave their elderly, as well as those who were mentally or physically disabled, in these houses with some food and water, allowing them to spend their last days there. The term "Khereft" in Persian means "old" or "fool," and "Khereft Khaneh" served a similar purpose to modern elderly homes.
Additionally, on this mountain, one can find remnants of Zoroastrian burial tombs, referred to as "sun graves." In these tombs, Zoroastrians would lay their deceased on their backs, placing bread at the head and feet of the body. A dog was left in the tomb to consume this bread, symbolizing the purification of the deceased. These practices reflect deep cultural traditions surrounding death and burial in the region.
